Who can join the SWBHIPA?
SWBHIPA is comprised of social workers, counselors, family therapists, art therapists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, psychiatric nurses and psychiatrists from all over the state of New Mexico.

As a Member of SWBHIPA…..
You will get assistance in understanding contracts, contracted and billable reimbursement schedules and the lines of business that insurance companies offer.
You will get support for your private practice and streamlined communication with the insurance companies for credentialing and practice management issues.
You will benefit from the many opportunities for networking that come from joining a strong community of quality mental health providers.
You will be a part of a referral network, between fellow Members and between Members and the insurance companies.
You will be offered opportunities for continuing education events, many of which have discounts for SWBHIPA members.
What kind of Continuing Education (CE) does the SWBHIPA offer?
SWBHIPA promotes quality continuing education opportunities, including those that are offered by our fellow Members. These often are discounted for SWBHIPA members. SWBHIPA focuses on updating our Members on current, timely issues that impact our practices.
Does the SWBHIPA have any legislative power?
In addition to contracting, networking and education, we have developed a legislative committee to address the issues which impact our Members. These issues are carefully defined and approved of by the Board of Directors.
How is my confidential information protected?
All information given to SWBHIPA is strictly confidential and will not be shared with other Members or other outside companies. Member information will only be shared with those insurance companies with whom Members choose to participate.
What happens if I decide not to continue or renew my Membership?
SWBHIPA has an initial 30 day period in which you can change your mind for a full refund. After that time, dues will be assessed annually. There will be no partial refunds given if withdrawal occurs mid-year. If you should decide to discontinue your Membership with SWBHIPA, you will be terminated from the SWBHIPA contracts. You will need to reapply and negotiate a direct contract with any of the insurance companies with which you want to continue participation.
If you retire, move or no longer need your contracts, you can change your membership level to Affiliate or Associate and still have access to all of the other benefits of SWBHIPA.
